Explorers

This program is designed for any young person, ages 15-21, who is interested in a shadow career program in which you can learn hands on experience through observation and participation with professional and successful Paramedics and EMTs that strive for excellence in patient care, community service, and compassion.  We believe our program will better prepare them through high school, college, and life in general as they will be learning a variety of “life lessons” as they ride along with our staff in the ambulances on actual emergencies!  This is a great opportunity and a great start for anyone interested in continuing their education in the medical field.

The 2011 - 2012 Explorers post will meet on the first Monday of every month from October 2011 - May 2012 from 6 - 9 PM.   Parents are encouraged to attend the first meeting, which will be October 3rd at 6 PM.  Due to the high interested in the program, we will only be able to accept the first 30 individucals that reserve a seat.  If you are interested in next years program, please contact Kristi and she will put you on her list for the next year.  The Explorers program costs $40.75 - $15.75 goes to the Boy Scouts (which is the national sponsor of the Explorers program), and $25.00 is for the Explorers uniform, which must be worn to all meetings and ride alongs.

One of the most important (and fun) parts of the Explorers program is getting to ride on the ambulance with the crews.  Students must be at the full monthly meeting in order to ride on the ambulance that month.  Times for the ride alongs are:

6:00 AM - 7:00 PM

8:00 AM - 8:00 PM

6:00 PM - 7:00 AM

8:00 PM - 8:00 AM

8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (M-F)

4:00 PM - MIDNIGHT (M-F)

11:00 AM - 7:00 PM (except Sundas)

If you are interested in participating in the 2012 - 2013 Explorers program, please contact Kristi by email or phone (701) 364-1759.
