AHA ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

The Emergency Medical Education Center at F-M Ambulance offers ACLS to the entire range of advanced level providers including Physicians, Registered Nurses, Paramedic, CRNA's, Pharmacists and more.

At the end of the ACLS Provider Course a successful learner will know how to approach cardio respiratory emergencies using the systematic ACLS Approach.  Resuscitation team members who know what to do and when to do it will minimize the confusion and frenzy that sometimes occur in such emergencies.  Learning and practicing the ACLS Approach helps learners feel more comfortable about individual roles and about facing future resuscitation challenges.

This course includes lectures and skills in the following areas:

  • Endotracheal intubation

  • Dual Lumen airway device

HeartCode®  ACLS Anywhere

The HeartCode ACLS Anywhere provides an alternative training solution for the busy        professional.  It’s the only e-Learning system where a successful outcome results in an AHA course completion card.

This self-directed ACLS learning program allows participants to practice techniques at their own pace and to receive feedback and evaluation of their skills in the comfort of their own home and at times that are convenient to them.  This new program includes all AHA guidelines and updates for ACLS.

The software also contains accredited continuing education modules for the experienced healthcare provider.

Participants purchase a CDROM and install the software at home.  They then have 32 hours (non-continuous) to complete the usual ACLS cases and a written test.  After successful completion of the written exam, a certificate is printed.  Participants then call to set up an appointment for a practical skills test.  The skills test takes an average of 30-45 minutes.
