CITIZEN ACADEMY
Who can be in the Citizens Academy?
When does the next Citizens Academy start?
Citizens Academy schedule:
Layout of the Academy The first night of the academy will be an introduction to F-M Ambulance, along with a tour of the ambulance and explanation as to what the academy will be all about. We will be answering any questions and outlining the program for the next several months.
After the CPR and AED training, academy participants will have the opportunity to do a ride-along with an ambulance crew. We have various shift times that are available for the ride-alongs. The academy will be focused on hands-on training, showing and teaching the skills that an ambulance crew may use. Participants will get to practice starting IV’s, intubations (placing a breathing tube), defibrillation, reading heart rhythms, and doing a full “code” on our SIMMAN manikin. They will get the chance to use that training in the final session, where they will take care of a "patient" who has been involved in a motor vehicle collision. We will have guest speakers talk about different EMS experiences, including paramedics who have worked in Texas after hurricanes Rita and Katrina. Due to the high interest in the F-M Ambulance Citizen’s EMS Academy, the number of participants will be limited for the program. If you are interested in taking part in the next F-M Ambulance Citizens Academy, please email or call Kristi at (701) 364-1759. Due to the high interest in the Academy, you may be on a waiting list to get into the next open Academy. For more information on other subjects, please follow these links:
